A Knowledge, Attitude and Practices Study on Clinical Toxicology among Internees and Registered Medical Practitioners at a Tertiary Care Hospital

The present KAP study aimed to ascertain the knowledge, attitudes, and practices on clinical toxicology amonginternees medical doctors at ACSR Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, India, in thelight of implementing new National Commission curriculum (Graduate Regulations 2019). Thestudy also understanding knowledge training gaps pertaining targetpopulation thereby propose interventions for proper delivery curriculum.A semi structured questionnaire was used elicit information wherein 120 health care providers voluntarilyparticipated study. results detected significant deficits towards concepts clinicaltoxicology implementation evidence-based approach providing care. Our identified need tostress toxidrome based approach, use decontamination methods, necessity stabilise patientmore than being enthusiastic diagnosing poisoning, increased multidose activated charcoal as a primary antidote,use poison control centre helpline, material safety data sheet databases when doubt, employing holistic caremodels, education social preventive role screening chronic paediatric poisonings.
